WYSC 2023

The well-known annual festival of words returns this March to Chorley town centre following a successful event last year.

The event will host activities, your favourite adult and children's authors, speakers, poets, and musicians. Those taking part, include Jen Carney, Dom Conlon, Rogan Mills, Susan Brownrigg, Sid Calderbank, Sarah Lee and many more.

The event will start at 11am and hold sessions throughout the day until 4pm across the town centre.

Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Wilson, said: "We are delighted to be able to hold this much-loved free event across the town centre once again.

"The event is centred around the arts and not only attracts visitors of all ages that have a passion for this style of event but also welcomes new people who may be interested in finding out more.

"I encourage everybody to join us on Saturday 23 March for a great day out for the whole family".

Local children are already preparing for the event as well-known children's author, Susan Brownrigg attends schools across Chorley to encourage entries to the writing competition.

The event will also see the return of the popular book bench trail with local schools taking part in decorating these book themed benches for everyone to enjoy.

A full event schedule will be coming soon.
