We have reopened our discretionary grant scheme for further applications in order to support more businesses.
Businesses were encouraged to apply for the first round of the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grants before the deadline of 16 December 2020, however with funds remaining and the announcement by the government of further funds being made available, we decided to reopen the scheme for further applications.
The scheme has not only reopened for further applications but the criteria for the fund has been broadened to try and reach a wider range of struggling businesses.
Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said "We have to distribute the Additional Restrictions Grant funds in line with government guidance but with flexibility to establish local criteria to support the economic need of Chorley. We've been able to support a high volume of businesses in the first round of this discretionary scheme, as well as with the other funding schemes available.
"However, we are hearing from some business types that are still finding themselves ineligible for other types of funding, so we have done what we can to try to broaden the criteria for the discretionary fund to help more businesses affected by the pandemic.
"It's impossible to be able to financially support every single business in Chorley as this is a limited fund but we are trying to support as many businesses as possible."
If you are a business who wishes to apply for the second round of the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant please view more information on Additional Restrictions Grants and complete the online form by 11.59pm, 4 March 2021.
