Anti Social Behaviour

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) can be distressing and frightening and covers a variety of activity which can cause harm to an individual and have an impact on their surroundings. ASB is defined as any behaviour which causes 'alarm, harassment or distress to one or more persons not of the same household' (Crime and Disorder Act 1998) Anti-Social Behaviour can also include concerns of public safety, public disorder or public nuisance.

Examples of Anti-social behaviour include:

• noise nuisance
• neighbour disputes
• threatening behaviour
• verbal abuse
• intimidation and harassment
• environmental damage
• begging and vagrancy
• vandalism and graffiti.

Report Anti-Social Behaviour

To report Anti-Social Behaviour to us please email contact@chorley.gov.uk or call us on 01257 515151. This will be then allocated to an officer who will contact you to discuss your concerns and how we investigate ASB.

When reporting antisocial behaviour, you will need to explain:

• what has happened
• who or what is causing the behaviour
• when it happened
• how often is it happening
• are any other services involved such as the Police or Registered Social Landlord.

In an emergency, you should report anti-social behaviour to Lancashire Police by telephone on 101 or 999.
