Chorley Women's Centre

Dedicated to supporting women of all ages and regardless of circumstances. Warm, friendly, approachable and fully trained in supportive listening and can provide information on many topics.

We will help women find solutions to their problems so they can feel empowered to help themselves and provides a listening ear either on a one to one basis for personal issues or communal area where ladies can chat and discuss many topics to support mental health and wellbeing

Available Counselling Services

There are three free Counselling Services; General Counselling, Circle Counselling, and Release Counselling. All are open to all genders.

This can be face to face within the centre or offer alternative premises and remote sessions via telephone and online

General Counselling Service

Available for issues that are affecting your mental and emotional health.  Offers the opportunity to explore difficulties around a diverse range of issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety or depressions or bereavement

Release Counselling Service

Provides one to one counselling to anyone who has experienced rape, sexual assault, or sexual abuse. We also offer this service to partners, family or friends who have been affected by the issue.

Mental Health Crisis Support 

If you're in crisis and need help straight away you can:

Call the Mental Health Crisis Line on 0800 953 0110, contact the Wellbeing Helpline and texting services on 0800 915 4640 or by texting 'Hello' to 07860 022846 or, dial 999 if you have harmed yourself or know someone who is harmed.

You can also look at the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Website website which has resources, information and organisations to help support your mental health.

Crisis Cafe's

There are also Crisis Cafe's in Chorley and the surrounding areas who can offer help to those who need urgent mental health support or may be finding it hard to deal with anxiety, loneliness and other difficult feelings. The closest Crisis Cafe for Preston, Chorley and South Ribble is The Central Lancashire Haven crisis café . This is available to people living in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble aged 16 plus. It is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 10pm, and weekends and bank holidays from 11am to 10pm. More information can be found on the Richmond Fellowship website.

Mindsmatter

Mindsmatter offer access to a range of brief therapeutic interventions, including courses and workshops, online programmes and face to face therapy, to support people's differing emotional needs.  

Giving people the right information and help to develop skills and gain tools to overcome stress, anxiety and depression is at the heart of what they do.

Every Mind Matters

This platform has been developed to support people during the COVID-19 outbreak, and has a COVID-19 hub that includes tips and support on how to deal with change, cope with money worried and job uncertainty and how to look after your mental wellbeing while staying at home.  It also includes practical tips and videos from experts on dealing with stress and anxiety, boosting your mood, sleeping better and what you can do to help others - including advice for parents and for children and young people.

Community Engagement Prevention Team (CPET)

The Community Prevention and Engagement Team (CPET) practice a person centred, strength-based approach to empower individuals to support their own mental health and wellbeing through social inclusion. This allows people to improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing by making community connections, developing support networks and engaging in meaningful occupation. Through a recovery focused support plan, CPET aims to build people's confidence and resilience to achieve personal goals.

Togetherall

Togetherall offers a safe place online and is available to anyone, anywhere, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. By joining Big White Wall free of charge, you will be able to access:

  • live therapy available via text, audio or secure video.

Anxiety UK

Anxiety UK can offer an extensive range of expert support designed to help people to control their anxiety rather than letting it control them. With a membership, which includes an annual fee, people can access packages of support, access to a community of other like-minded people, discounted 1 to 1 therapy services from a network of approved therapists and a wide range of helpful resources that help people to understand and overcome their anxiety.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)

CALM is leading a movement against suicide. CALM run a free and confidential helpline and webchat 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life's problems. They also support those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP).

Support in the Community

Talking group for men

Every Monday at 7pm from 31 January at Chorley Football Club. Delivered by Andy Mans Club Chorley.

They run talking groups for men who have either been through a storm, are currently going through a storm or have a storm brewing in life.

Peer Support Group for people affected by Suicide

If you are experiencing loss through suicide, we have a peer support group which meets every two weeks on Thursdays, 12pm to 2pm at Lancaster Way Community Centre.
