What the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is spent on

CIL was introduced to provide local council's a more flexible and transparent way of funding infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure which can be part funded by the levy can include:

  • schools
  • transport
  • flood defences
  • hospitals
  • community facilities
  • health and social care facilities.

The Levy can be spent on the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure.

View IFS: Infrastructure Funding Reports for a list of all the approved projects eligible for CIL / S106 funding under Chorley Council.

A portion of the CIL receipts collected are passed to the Parish or Town Council in which the development sits.
