Bereavement support

The following list gives just some of the organisations that offer help and support following the death of a family member or friend.

Cruse Bereavement Care

Cruse Bereavement support is a charity that provides care to anyone who has been affected by a death. They also run a youth involvement project to support young people (aged 12 to 18) after the death of someone close to them.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Bereavement Support Group

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Bereavement Support Group is a support group for anybody who has been affected by death. The group meets monthly, however individual support and telephone support is also available on arrangement.

Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK helps children and young people (up to age 25), parents and families, to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies.

They also provide guidance and information to help support people as a result of Coronavirus.

The After Loss Club

The After Loss Club supports anyone who has suffered loss from Death, Divorce, Dementia or Disability. 

There are three sessions held across Chorley all on a Monday:

Hartwood Hall, Preston Road, Chorley, PR6 7AX at 2:30pm - 4pm. This is group for newly bereaved people.

The Sea View, Preston Road, Whittle-Le-Woods, PR6 7HH at 2:30pm - 4pm. This group is the 'Moving on Club' for those who were bereaved a while ago but still enjoy the support.

The Sea View, Preston Road, Whittle-Le-Woods, PR6 7HH at 7:30pm - 9pm. For those bereaved who are not able to access support during the day.

Chorley Bereavement Cafe, supported by St Catherine's Hospice

An informal group where anyone can go and chat, have a brew and talk to others about their loss, whether their loved one has died recently or some time ago.

The Bereavement Café is supported by St Catherine's Hospice and St Laurence's Church.

It is held on the second Wednesday of the month, 2.00pm-3.30pm at St Laurence's Church, Union Street, Chorley, PR7 1EB.
